President of Monte Verde and a highly qualified forest engineer. He holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in agronomy with a specialization in plant protection. Willian has extensive experience in the field of reforestation, having contributed to the restoration of more than 150 hectares of forest. His work focuses on providing services to companies involved in forest restoration and carbon fixation, including partnerships with organizations like The Nature Conservancy. Willian’s leadership and expertise play a crucial role in the success of Monte Verde environmental initiatives, particularly in reforestation and ecosystem recovery efforts.

Forest engineer with a Master’s and Ph.D. in Forest Ecology, Gabriel has held academic positions at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul and the University of São Paulo (USP). His expertise includes dendrochronology, as well as the quantification and analysis of the effects of climate change on carbon sequestration in tropical forests, making him an essential contributor to environmental projects in Monte Verde. His academic background and research experience play a crucial role in advancing the company’s forest restoration and carbon fixation initiatives, ensuring that all projects are scientifically grounded and environmentally effective.

Biologist with a master’s degree in applied ecology. She has extensive experience in fauna monitoring and the use of bioindicators to assess environmental quality in landscapes. Additionally, Raissa is skilled in georeferencing and remote sensing, particularly for the monitoring of flora. Her expertise allows her to contribute to efforts in tracking and managing vegetation health. Currently, she also provides services to the state of Minas Gerais, where she plays a key role in controlling deforestation through remote sensing technologies. Raissa’s knowledge in both fauna and flora monitoring is essential to Monte Verde conservation and restoration initiatives.

Forest engineer with extensive experience in research and the development of technology for pest control in forest reforestation projects. He has a strong background in georeferencing and remote sensing, skills that he applies to the monitoring and control of deforestation. Bruno has worked on advanced techniques to track forest health and manage reforestation efforts effectively. Currently, he also works for the state of Minas Gerais, where he plays a key role in monitoring deforestation through remote sensing technology. His expertise in both technological innovation and environmental monitoring is critical to the success of Monte Verde projects.

He also has significant experience in assessing the social impacts of reforestation on local populations living in surrounding areas. Edson’s expertise in both the technical and social aspects of environmental projects makes him a key contributor to Monte Verde mission of sustainable reforestation and ecological restoration, ensuring that the company’s initiatives not only restore ecosystems but also consider the well-being of local communities.

Forest engineer with experience in pest control for reforestation projects, rural extension, and the social impacts of reforestation on rural populations. His work focuses on developing sustainable solutions to protect reforestation efforts while addressing the needs and challenges faced by rural communities. João Pedro’s skills and knowledge contribute to Monte Verde commitment to fostering environmentally and socially responsible reforestation projects.

The Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of the State of Minas Gerais (Emater-MG) is the largest public company in the sector in Brazil. Founded in 1948, it was also the first of its kind in the country. Today, Emater-MG operates in approximately 800 municipalities across the state, and its work has become a national reference. Linked to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply of the Government of Minas Gerais, the company is responsible for serving around 350,000 rural producers.

Over the years, Emater-MG has built strong partnerships with both public and private sectors. This collaborative effort benefits the municipalities of Minas Gerais through partnerships with the legislative branch, local governments, state ministries, associations, cooperatives, and non-governmental organizations.

Specific Target Audiences of Emater-MG:
In alignment with Law No. 11,326, of July 24, 2006, which establishes guidelines for formulating the National Policy for Family Farming and Rural Family Enterprises, and Law No. 12,188, of 2010, which establishes the National Policy for Technical Assistance and Rural Extension for Family Farming and Agrarian Reform (Pnater), Emater-MG prioritizes the following target groups:

Family farmers and rural family entrepreneurs
Silviculturists, aquaculturists, extractivists, and fishermen
Agrarian reform settlers
Indigenous peoples, descendants of quilombolas, and other traditional peoples and communities
Recognizing the need to promote autonomy and equal opportunities, as well as to overcome gender and generational inequalities in rural areas and encourage the continuity of family farming, Emater-MG gives special attention to working with rural women and youth in all of its Strategic Agendas, Programs, and Projects.

The Grupo Dispersores is a non-profit NGO founded in 2004 in Brazópolis, Minas Gerais (Brazil), where it is recognized as a public interest entity and registered in the “state register of environmental entities” (CEEA) and its national counterpart (CNEA).

The focus of the entity is turned towards the gradual implementation of a programme named “Veias D’água”, which seeks to preserve and recover degraded areas within the hydrographic basin of Rio Sapucaí through reforesting, production of native seedlings and environmental education, sensitizing and mobilizing people for environmental preservation and the correct and rational use of natural resources, which are of paramount importance to live sustainably, thus proving the population with quality of life.

Present in the south end of Minas Gerais, through its projects, Grupo Dispersores promotes the restoration of the Atlantic Forest’s area in the region directly.

Nowadays, the institution operates in three lines of actions in order to reach its goals: Activities related to the restoration of degraded areas near springs; production of native seedlings for reforesting; environmental education for students of the regional schools.

Grupo Dispersores work counts on the support of several agents, such as those from the city hall, public and private schools of the region, universities, companies, EMATER, IEF and other environmentalist NGOs of the region.

Representing the organized civil society, Grupo Dispersores is a member of the Advisory Council of APA Fernão Dias, Committee of the Hydrographic Basin of Rio Sapucaí and Committee of the Hydrographic Basin of Rio Grande, operating directly in those councils and helping promote the conservation and preservation of the forests and water resources.

Topics such as management of urban solid waste, protection and restoration of springs, environmental education, reproduction of seedlings of native trees, creation of Conservation Units (CUs), among others, have been worked with by the institution in its projects and services, bringing benefits to the population and the region’s environmental scenario.

Wpaivas: began with the union of six professionals with similar educational backgrounds and has been operating autonomously since July 2018, despite its formal registration in 2023. The company is a private entity headquartered in Itajubá, Minas Gerais, Brazil, and is registered under the CNPJ number 51.502.090/0001-50. Its primary economic activity is land preparation, cultivation, harvesting, and reforestation. Over the years, WPAivas has successfully restored more than 150 hectares of the Atlantic Forest, contributing to the conservation and recovery of one of Brazil’s most critical ecosystems. The company also works with investors in carbon fixation, partnering with renowned organizations like The Nature Conservancy and Mercado Livre. The mission of WPAivas is to promote sustainability through the restoration of deforested areas and the recovery of ecological services, fostering a positive impact on the environment and the communities that rely on it.
